CREATIVE RETREAT BOXES

I’m a complete beginner/ dabbler/ experienced creative. Will these retreats be pitched at the right level for me?

YES! Each retreat focuses on a different theme rather than a specific skill. There will be suggestions in each retreat for activities for you to explore but you are free to adapt or interpret these in a way that excites you. Each retreat will also include ideas for further explorations such as recommendations for books, films, pieces of music or works of art which will help you to explore the theme even further.

I’m a painter/ writer/ crafter/ photographer/ ceramicist (insert any other creative interest here). Will these retreats be suitable for me?

ABSOLUTELY! Each retreat focuses on a different theme and invites you to complete a specific activity/ artist date with yourself which requires no specific level of skill. You can start wherever you are. Suggestions will be made for how you can explore the theme but you are free to choose to do this in a way you feel comfortable with. For example, I am a writer so I may explore the theme through a short story or challenge myself to create a collage or delve into a photographic assignment on the theme instead. You will be given enough guidance to support you to explore the theme and follow your heart’s desire in any direction you choose. The purpose of these retreats is for you to feel the joy of creativity and reclaim some creative you time! Spending time in creative play will undoubtedly improve any other creative projects you are involved in too.

What is in the box?

Unlike some other types of subscription boxes, this is not a box of different products for you to sample but is a self-contained creative retreat experience. The box will contain the guidance and items you need to complete this retreat alone with yourself at a time that is most convenient for you. The exact contents of the box will change according to the monthly theme but your retreat box will include the following each month:

  • Muse News Sheet – this introduces the retreat theme, provides background information on each item in the box, and gives a brief overview of the charity who will receive a donation from the sale of that months box.
  • Retreat Invitation – this provides step by step instructions on activities to explore during your retreat as well as other prompts and guidance
  • Organic Herbal Teas – samples of a specific flavour for you to enjoy to give you that relaxed, nourished retreat feeling! You will receive a different flavour each month so you can cherish yourself whilst expanding your tipple repertoire too.
  • Sweet treat – a sweet little treat to satisfy the magical child in you!
  • Themed gift – this is intended to inspire you and will help you to complete the activities outlined in the retreat invitation or help you explore the theme a little further.
  • Charity donation– a minimum of 25p from the sale of each retreat box will be donated to a worthy charity involved in protecting the people, creatures and eco systems of our beautiful world. So, your magical retreat time will create healing and joy in more ways than one!

There will be other little goodies too according to the theme but we don’t want to spoil the surprise of opening your box! Each creative retreat box is lovingly packed by hand with care, sweet thoughts and healing reiki energy.

What ethics do you consider when selecting contents for the box?

I’m a passionate tree lover, so when selecting paper and cardboard products I am very conscious of looking for the FSC certification to make sure products are responsibly sourced. I also take into consideration whether products are recycled, recyclable and/ or biodegradable. These options are chosen wherever available.

I’m also passionate about products being cruelty free so any confectionery/ edibles/ consumables in the box will be cruelty free/ vegetarian/ dairy free and/or vegan. When possible they will be gluten free too.

Being a service with a social conscience inspires me, so a minimum of 25p from the sale of each box will be donated to a charity working to protect the people, animals and eco systems of our beautiful world!

We bank with the Co-operative bank due to their ethics resonating with the ethos of Muse Retreats: honesty, openness, self responsibility and caring for others.

What experience do you draw upon to create these retreat boxes?

I’ve been on my own creative path since I was a small child dreaming, reading and writing stories. I draw primarily upon my relationship with my own creativity. I also draw upon my personal development and spiritual journey too (including meditation, yoga, Reiki and instinctive shamanic practice). I’m a literature graduate with a MA in Writing and am also a qualified teacher. I’ve taught in the education sector for fifteen years so this helps with structuring retreat activities and creating resources too. For the last seven years I worked within a further education arts college as a wellness and pastoral manager. I specialised in working with arts students to remove various barriers to realising their creative potential. I primarily worked with vulnerable students with complex needs, including practical things like time management and financial issues or more emotional issues such as stress management, low self esteem and limiting beliefs. Experience has taught me that if you believe in the true essence of people and support them enough to follow their own instincts, the only thing they can do is shine!

SUBSCRIPTIONS

How can I subscribe to Muse Retreats?

Go to our Shop page and select the right option for you. Choose a personal monthly subscription, a one off box or a range of gift subscription options.Every month a new creative retreat becomes available to new subscribers until our posting date or they completely sell out! You can chart the exact progress of our retreat boxes by checking out the clock on our home page. The number of retreat boxes available is strictly limited so if you make your selection in the Shop page and get the ‘Out Of Stock’ sign either see if one of our ‘one off’ boxes is available or join our Newsletter (at the bottom of the page) and we will give you a gentle reminder before the next retreat becomes available. Celebrating joy and creativity makes our hearts sing so we definitely don’t want you to miss out!

How much does it cost to subscribe?

As a monthly subscriber each creative retreat is £15 including FREE UK P&P. You are free to cancel your subscription at any time. You will be charged a £15 sign up fee when you subscribe. This is the payment for your first box. You will then pay £15 on the 1st of the month for the duration of your subscription.

One off boxes are £18 including FREE UK P&P. If you prefer to invest in your retreats up front you can sign up for one of our gift subscriptions-  3 months £45, 6 months £90 or 12 months £180 which all include FREE UK P&P. Our gift subscriptions are a one off payment taken when you sign up. Make sure you choose the option that feels right for you!

What payment methods do you accept?

Your online security is really important to us so we accept all payments through the most trusted online payment service PayPal. You can pay through your PayPal account. Alternatively, you can use your credit or debit card. Just look for the credit/debit card link under the yellow ‘Log In’ button when you go through check out.

Are there any hidden fees?

Absolutely not! For our £15 personal monthly subscriptions you pay a £15 ‘sign up fee’ when you subscribe but please don’t freak out! This is actually the payment for your first months box (the ‘sign up fee’ is just the way PayPal words it’s subscription option- there are no fees other than your actual retreat box payments). You will then pay £15 on the 1st of the month for the duration of your subscription. For gift subscriptions, you will be charged a one off payment for the amount stated on the option you choose from our Subscribe page (e.g. 3 month subscription £45).The price you see on our Subscribe page for all of our subscription options is the price you pay at the checkout. There are no nasty surprises from us so you can fly through the checkout process with a smile!

All payments are taken through PayPal, the secure online payment service, so you can be confident that your payment details are safe. When you have gone through check out, you will receive an acknowledgement via email from us immediately and also a receipt directly from PayPal so you are absolutely clear about what payments have been taken. I would like to try a creative retreat. Do I have to sign up for a monthly subscription?

Not at all! We want you to be happy so if you are not 100% sure you want to sign up for a monthly subscription just yet, you have the option to choose a one off box for £18 to see whether our creative retreats are the right experience for you.

ORDERS

I’ve just signed up for a monthly subscription. When will I be billed?

You will be charged £15 when you sign up for your first retreat box (this will show as a ‘sign up fee’ when you go through check out), then £15 on the 1st of the month for the duration of your subscription. PayPal will provide confirmation of exact billing dates and details as part of their check out process and also on the receipt you receive afterwards. As a subscriber do I have to re-subscribe and go through the check out every month?

No! Once you subscribe, you can relax and look forward to receiving your lovingly curated retreat box each month for the duration of your subscription. Your retreat box will automatically be reserved and arrive by the end of every month without you having to do anything else so you can devote your energy to wondering, dreaming, creating and sharing! You are free to cancel your subscription at any time.

I ordered a one off box to try the retreats out and I loved it so much I want to subscribe! What do I do now?

That’s great news! Head over to our Shop page and select the monthly subscription option. We do not have access to any card details so you will need to go through check out for your new subscription. Follow the instructions on screen and join our creative retreat community!

I want to subscribe but the subscription page says you are sold out. What are my options now?

Sorry to hear that! The number of retreat boxes available is strictly limited so if you get the ‘Out Of Stock’ sign when you try to subscribe you can either see if a one off box is available or join our Newsletter (bottom of the page) and we will give you a gentle reminder before the next retreat becomes available. Celebrating joy and creativity makes our hearts sing so we definitely don’t want you to miss out next time!

I would like to cancel my subscription. How do I do this?

We are sorry to see you go but we understand that cancellations are necessary sometimes! All you need to do is email us at hello@muse-retreats.com to cancel your subscription. You need to do this a few days before the 1st of the month to make sure we have time to instruct PayPal not to take your payment for the next months box. Remember, you will always be welcome to resubscribe if you choose to in the future!

DELIVERY

Where do you deliver to?

We currently deliver across the UK. We are working on spreading the love worldwide so sign up to our mailing list for updates!

How much is delivery?

For our monthly subscriptions, one off boxes and our gift subscription options UK postage, packing and delivery is absolutely FREE! Yaaaay!

Who will deliver my box?

All subscriptions are sent by Royal Mail with a certificate of posting so will be delivered by your friendly postman/postwoman straight through your letterbox.

Do I have to be at home to receive my delivery?

No! Our creative retreat boxes are sent in letter box friendly packaging so you won’t ever receive that dreaded ‘sorry we missed you’ card! You are free to go about your day at your convenience and receive a beautiful surprise on your mat when you get home.

When can I expect to receive my creative retreat box?

All of our creative retreat boxes are posted by the 21st of the month. You can expect to receive your box a few days later. To check exactly where we are up to with posting check out the countdown to posting clock on the home page.

GIFT SUBSCRIPTIONS

Can I give your retreat boxes to someone as a gift?

Yes, of course! Our retreats make a thoughtful gift for the creative person in your life. Check out the Shop page for the option that is most suitable for you (either a one off box or one of our gift subscriptions) and make sure you enter the right delivery address at check out!

Can you include a personal message with gift subscriptions?

Absolutely! I will personally hand write your message on a gift card and include this in the first box so the recipient knows who their lovely gift is from. Make sure you enter your message in the box when prompted during the checkout process.

Will the recipient know how much their gift cost?

No. We respect the discretion involved when giving a gift so there will be no receipt or payment details included in the box. All of your payment interactions will be directly with PayPal. You will receive your acknowledgement of payment via email from us automatically after you go through check out and your receipt will be emailed directly to you by PayPal.

POLICIES

What is your returns policy?

Due to the nature of the creative retreat boxes we do not accept returns. If an item is missing from your box or something appears to be damaged please contact us as soon as possible at hello@muse-retreats.com and we will do everything to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. If you decide that our creative retreats aren’t the experience you are looking for you are free to cancel your subscription at any time. Our priority is that you are happy!

What is your privacy policy?
